Somone,
This series is amazing and you can definitely bet I’m going to promote this as much as I can. :D I’m actually going to contact you now about an idea I have.
But I’m really glad you listed the negative things too. I mean, I love hearing about why you think the blog is good, but you’re also right that it’s not perfect. The 404 page was never updated on the new design, and it’s something I have put off for too long…but I’m going to get to it very soon now.
Again, thanks for doing this it’s really awesome how much thought and work you put into it. :)
What a thoughtful and well written post.
Well, Alex is a great designer, but I too agree that the blog has somewhat fell short of my expectations. I’m no PRO myself, but I thought Alex would be making the path for others easier and helping us all out a bit more.
#49 kind of shows reader feedback. Thesis users that read Blogussion want more articles about Thesis however non-Thesis users don’t wany too many (or any) articles about Thesis.
Alex could probably sort this dilemna out by having a dedicated Thesis category or sign-posting posts about Thesis as such as non-Thesis users can choose to skip these. However, as I have found myself, just because a post is about Thesis does not mean that it is of no use to non-Thesis users.
Alex appears to want to focus more on blogging and web design, rather than simply Thesis. This leaves sites like Thesis Theme HQ (this one) with opportunities to focus on Thesis-specific topics and to highlight to Thesis users other articles out there – like some of those on your site – that are specific to Thesis.
I would suggest that 2010 – Blogussion’s second year – will be bigger and better. As far as expectations go – I think he has done really well in his first twelve months and Seth and his other business partners and guest bloggers can be proud of how far they’ve come.
Whilst I am no Thesis-designer – I may offer my Thesis-specific insights as a guest poster over at Blogussion. You might like to do the same. This way we can help the Thesis community who frequent Blogussion.
As for me, I think that all in all Blogussion is great, even though it might have some drawbacks. But who doesn’t? :)
