Whether online or a physical business...you must be able to add value to people's lives. a website or business needs to have that goal at its core. thesis Theme HQ for example aims to showcase what you can do with the theme and blogging strategies that work or don't work from my own experience. I am one small voice but am slowly (key word 'slowly') building credibility and presence that assists in establishing other businesses on and offline. You do need to have a master plan and understand where your website or websites fit into that plan. the days of quick gains may be gone in many markets, but there will always be opportunities...such is life.

Not as quick as you may think. If you can write creative content, are coder, are a designer, then I think you are in a very good position, but if the common person thinks they are going to put up a site, and some content, then thinks the money will just roll in, then those people will be in for a shock. I have seen many stories how people say they have been trying to make money, and had sites for years without much success; What effort they put into their marketing is another story. People setup forums left and right because they see other high profile forums making money, forums that have been established for many, many years, then when the money does not roll in within a month, then their forum (without having traffic) just turns into a mere after-thought; "I wish I was making money like the other forum" When you have millions of others that compete for the same goals and dreams about making money, then you are just fighting against those people, along with those that already have the market, and have already had the market for many years...bottom line is, its not impossible, but you are going to put many days and nights working on your site over the next few years, unless you just happen to setup one of those "once in a lifetime sites" and how many people will do that? I am not making this stuff up, its just reality! and its life...for every dollar you are fighting to start off making, there are others that are sucking those dollars from you becuase they already have status, and they have been around for a long time...

I agree with 90% of your thoughts. You can start making some money online very quickly - at least to cover the cost of your domain name registration and hosting fees. Beyond that, you do need to love it, have a passion to make it work and get over the bumps as they present themselves.

It does not matter what you write about; Blogging how to blog, or other. No matter what you write, millions have already written it before you; You are not the first to write about blogging how to blog, or other topic. Spammers have made a mockery of the internet by uploading rehashed articles, and millions of spammy articles are being uploaded to the internet daily. It does not matter what your topic is, someone before you has already written about it, and not only that, it has been written, and rehashed millions of times on 1000's of other sites across the internet. If you are writing to make money, then you have already failed; you have to love what you are doing, and if you are doing it just for money, then you will not make it. It takes time to make money, and could even take years, why? Because you are not the first to write an article, so unless you already have a popular site, then everytime you upload your article, you are competing with every other blogger, article writer, etc...You have to do what you are doing for the love of the topics you are writing about, not to make affiliate income, no one likes affiliates, as you become a trusted blogger, then things will fall in place over time, and it could be a long time...very few people can start making money as soon as they get on the internet.
Do not expect your blogging to be a success overnight, or even in just a few short months, the truth is, it maybe a few years before you see a certain level of success.

You're a smart lady Somone. Perhaps it is best to write about what you love and for the love of it. Doing it for financial gain may never earn results.

Thank you Som for this very interesting writing. I do believe in you. Blogging really takes time and must be carefully planned if one goes full time. I haven't yet decided to go full time and that's maybe when I learned a lot of the pros and cons. My experimental blog you have just visited is where I used my spare time rewarding my self from a hard days work. Really Som, it's passion. Regarding thesis theme, it's really cool and looking forward to work it out with you when the right time comes and when I'm already a responsible blogger. As for the moment, how'd I love to work writing first with other's blog. It's an advantage in the future. Thank you Som for the concern and understanding. You are really a RESPONSIBLE BLOGGER. God Bless.
