How To Make Money With A Blog @ Bible Money Matters

Just when you thought the Good Book was just about The Good – along comes the Bible Money Matters blog. Not only does this Thesis Theme blog have an awesome changing background customization - it also has amazing free content in a 4 part series: How to Make Money With a Blog.

I wish I read this before I [fill in your dumb blogging mistake]…

When I was thinking about whether or not to try out Text Link Ads, I hadn’t come across a blogger who I thought was credible (aka a fellow Thesis Theme user) warning me off it. I think I got away with a few months of text link revenue before blasting it off my site and avoiding the Google slap. (Read more about my experience with Text Link Ads)

At some point Google declared that sites selling text links without the nofollow tag would be penalized (My site dropped from a PR5 to a PR3 after I sold text links.  Working on phasing them out now). People purchase text links to artificially boost their backlinks, and in essence,  game the google search engine.  Getting links from a ton of sites with a decent page rank means you’ll probably do better in the search rankings.  Because the use of text links is essentially trying to “trick” the search engine, Google frowns upon them.

Bible Money Matters

You don’t have to be a Christian to enjoy this blog - just a belief in yourself and a desire to have the opportunity to give back.

Money Matters TV

Pete runs BibleMoneyMatters.com, a Christian personal finance blog that helps regular people dump the chains of debt and live a financially free life. Did you know that the bible has over 2300 verses on money?

If you want a great example of a friendly effective, personal video (I like it a lot), then this is one such video. Great use of background, casual atmosphere, good lighting, a script probably to read from and nice overlays.

Thanks for linking back to my series, and for your kind comments. I worked pretty hard on the “how to make money with a blog” series, and I’m hoping to turn it into an ebook and audio series soon. Stay tuned!

I found out the hard way how text link ads can harm your page rank, and I’m still trying to get rid of the last of my links. Hopefully i can get my page rank back up there once I’ve gotten rid of them. It’s just hard to turn down the money when they offer so much sometimes! You just have to focus on your long term goals for your site.
