Have you discovered Screenr? It’s free screencasting software that lets you record your screen and capture the audio. You can make your video and then publish your screencast automatically to twitter.
If you don’t want to tweet your screencast, you can choose to manually self-publish to twitter later (or never) and go straight to your video.
Grab the embed code for your site and add it to a post, or publish it to YouTube.
The embed code automatically sizes the video to 560×345. If you want it to be smaller, just edit the code. I changed my dimensions to 500×308 (to maintain the same ratio).
Screenr also lets you download the MP4 video to your computer.
Watch the 1 minute video at Screenr.com (not Screenr.r like I say in the video!) to see how easy it is to use. Best of all there is nothing to download and if you don’t like the video you can simply delete it and make another one.
Here’s my first second attempt at making a screencast. I didn’t plug the right audio/headphone cords in the first time.
Warning: I have not done this before so this is my first ever recorded video on the web. It will get better.
P.S. The accent is Australian, not New Zealander.

I love Screenr and have been using it for about a year. Another benefit is that other Screenr users visit your videos. I like to create them on Screenr then tweet them, and then upload to Youtube so I can add a longer description and optimize that for the web. Then I feed the Youtube version to my Facebook and add them to a Playlist which is linked on my website. They are quick and easy (no need to do your hair or put on lipstick!) so whenever I see something somebody needs I just click the “bookmarklet” to “Record with Screenr” and start taping. Love it – and it’s free! Great share.
Somone – Glad to hear that you’ll be doing some screen casts. I thought this one turned out just fine considering it was your first or second attempt:) I am a big fan of screenr also and used it several times in the past year to do Thesis related screen casts. I love the easy interface and the quality of the videos produced and of course it is free too! I look forward to seeing some more videos from you soon.
I’m using Jing as of the moment. Maybe I’ll take a look at this. Thanks for the info Somone.
Really is that so? Is it trial version?
No. It’s been around for more than a year now and it is free, unlimited uses as well.
