Scribe SEO Free Test Drive: Great Results See the Screenshots

The Scribe SEO plugin and SEO optimization service has arrived and like all eager WordPress users I decided to try out the FREE Trial. Scribe Content Analysis gives you feedback on SEO score, keyword analysis,  change keywords, tags, SERP, and SEO best practices. Scribe SEO screenshots follow…

Juice up your WordPress Theme…

Add the free All in One SEO Plugin & Scribe SEO to your WordPress site

or Use the New Web Version due out in March 2010 – you don’t even need WordPress with this version!

It comes in the form of a plugin that you add to your WordPress installation or as a stand alone web version due out in March.

  • You get access to both versions for the one price.

How Scribe SEO Works

If you want to read about how Scribe SEO Works - and see the screenshots of the web version – read my earlier article Scribe SEO = Simple SEO Copy by Brian Clark of Copyblogger.

Setting up the Scribe SEO Plugin

If you use the web version you don’t need to use the plugin version – but the plugin version is in your dashboard with one click results rather than copying and pasting into the web version. Choose which ever works best for you.

If you use Thesis Theme, Headway or Hybrid Themes you just add the Scribe SEO Plugin. If not, you will need to add the the free All in One SEO plugin. You can download it here.

After downloading Scribe SEO and uploading the zip to my server, all I had to do was click activate and enter my API key provided when I signed up for the free trial.

Nothing else to do apart from going straight to the post or page you want to cast some SEO optimization magic over.

  • The plugin appears in the top right of your screen…
  • You click Analyze and you get a screen with your results.

I decided to try it out on my most popular article to date…Avatar Skin for your face using Photoshop

This article was published on 13 January 2010. In 39 days (from being published to today’s date) it had received 10,143 views. It is my most popular post/page this quarter, even more popular that the home page.

What Scribe SEO Plugin Version Gives You – The Screenshots

The first tab that comes up is the SEO Score...

  • I’m quickly told that this post could be 40% better and gives suggestions how to improve the content.

The next tab is Keyword Analysis

  • I am presented with density percentages and can see which keywords are coming up for the article. If the keyword you were aiming for is not here – obviously you have to go back and fix it up!

The next tab is Change Keywords

  • There are some nifty tips provided to you right in the Edit Post area of your WordPress dashboard.
  • You can go back to the results after you make each change by clicking on the Review button to the left of the Analyze button – shown below…

The next tab is Tags

  • If you are like me and have trouble thinking of which tags to add to the SEO tags field, then this has great suggestions based on your text. You can also copy and paste the keywords suggested and then delete any you don’t want.

The next tab is SERPSERP = Search Engine Results Page

  • If you want to see what your search engine results are likely to look like – here it is.

The next and final tab is SEO Best Practices…

  • I’m not going to give too much away here…let’s just say the 1630 words that came up for me provided information many people buy eBooks for. I don’t want to breach copyright law by giving more than is necessary for a review of this product so the above screenshot is enough to show you what is on this tab.

If you need to make changes to the basic stuff, you will be reminded with some obvious symbols in the Scribe Content Optimizer box.

My Thoughts – Get It. Use It!

My early test of the product (when it had bugs) made me wonder if it provided additional value. However, after using it again and giving you some screenshots above I can clearly see the value it provides – especially for posts that do target keywords.

The web version looks even better

I also got the email yesterday and just installed it now.

I tried it and it said the server was down for maintenance so I will have to wait and see what it shows me. Seems interesting though.

It helps to start off with as good an article as you can. One great way to get at least in the ballpark with this is hit your keyword into google and check out the style, length and keywords in the blogs and sites’ articles that come up on the first page. Study them. They’re doing something right! This is a good tool to use but it is a polisher not a creator. you get your best results going into it with something quality that just needs that extra tweak.

That’s excellent advice. Those top Google search results may have the keyword formula down or they may be paying for traffic or a bit of both…and a lot of other little things. Generally however, with Google tweaking their algorithms it is the good articles getting the top spots. It also helps if your blog has been around for at least 3 months.

Thanks for the review. I guess I really need to get my Thesis installed and work on posting now that the SEO is going to be (hopefully) even easier. That was the main reason I got Thesis, to help me more easily produce a content filled blog for SEO purposes. Now if I could just get someone to do the writing for me, I’d be all set… :)

Somone,

Just wanted to stop by and thank you for being one of the people that turned me on to Scribe. Like Matt said, now I just need to find someone to do all my writing. :-)

If this SEO tool is better than marketing samurai then I will give it a try. I’m currently looking for a keyword tool and site analysis software and I guess this works best for that tasks.
