Not much different, i am able to modify css but when it comes to PHP, i run all the time to DIYtheme hook reference lists :)

I’m pretty useless when it comes to php – I refer to tutorials 99% of the time.

I am using Thesis theme as well, though Thesis is very easy to change colors and stuff, but when it comes to editing a little bit of PHP file, we need some knowledge of the language.
