Thesis 1.6 has Arrived

14 Sep 09

The DIY Team recently announced (8 Sep 09), that Thesis 1.6 beta is available for Thesis Theme users who hold a Developer’s Licence.

If you only hold a Personal Licence, you should be able to get your hands on it soon enough. Or you could upgrade

Fresh off the Thesis Development Blog, Chris talks of brand new features, some of which are:

Stacks of Design and Color Options

“Control font colors all over the theme. Experiment with your background color. Customize the daylights out of your nav menu. Tweak all freakin day.”

Color picker

Automatic Dropdown Navigation Menu

“Bring your parent-child pages or your nested categories, and Thesis will turn them into a killer new CSS-only dropdown navigation menu. … Thesis allows you to customize the anchor text of all your pages, so you can tailor your nav menu to your specific needs. … new nav menu design controls on the Design Options page… Fonts, Colors, and More! section.”

Custom File Editor in WordPress Dashboard

“Sick of dealing with an external file editor and an FTP client every time you need to update that damned custom.css file? Not anymore, ’cause now you’ve got a custom file editor inside your WordPress dashboard that totally solves this problem!”

Very cool. This will address a wide range of my needs. Glad to see the additional focus on the design aspect of Thesis. Can’t wait.

I do have a developer license for Thesis, but I’m lacking time right now to play around with the beta – especially in case it screws up and I need to fix it or revert back to 1.5 :(

I’ll just wait till 1.6 final is released. I hope they add the ability to turn off use of “post image” in the RSS feed.

Thesis Theme is the one that most web marketing professionals recommend, and this post is yet another reflection on why that is the case. Not only are the developers on top of their game, but they also keep on improving their offering, so Thesis Theme is just getting better and better. I highly recommend using it if you are looking at the WordPress platform.
