The last few weeks has seen two major changes. If you are a member of the Thesis Theme Affiliate Program you have to act now to join the program - you could be losing affiliate commissions already. If you haven’t been to the Thesis Forum in a while, you will need to refamiliarize yourself with the new categories and what has been archived.
Thesis Theme 2.0 is on its way this year and the DIY Themes team is working to make sure the Thesis Theme for WordPress stays on the top of the heap. Two major changes have occurred:
The Thesis Theme Forum has been re-categorised
- OpenHook is closed as is the popular category Customisation, but you can still read the content. There’s some good stuff in Customisation in particular that is still relevant. It was getting rather large and unwieldy and was sometimes very difficult to find an answer for something using the search function or visually scanning for answers (or ideas).
There are three new categories (so far) – CSS & HTML Design, PHP & Programming and Plugins & Third Party Code.
- Customisation is now split into CSS & HTML Design or PHP & Programming - dependent on where people put their queries.
- Basically if you are looking to change the appearance of something, go to the CSS & HTML Design.
- If you want to change how something works, that is a functionality, go to PHP & Programming.
- Thesis OpenHook will be in Third Party Code.
- The remaining three categories - WordPress, Classifieds and Miscellaneous - have been there for a while but aren’t as well-known (yet).
- If you need to pay somebody to do something for you on Thesis, check out the classifieds to look for a designer.
The Thesis Theme Affiliate Program Has Moved to Share a Sale
This might cost you money to get paid now – especially if you are outside the US.- Australian affiliates have to pay $7 USD to get paid now as PayPal is no longer available. Your main choices are direct deposit or cheque.
- You might want to raise your payment threshold to avoid paying this amount too often.
- Also, if you didn’t do a csv download of your sales or save/print a screenshot – you have lost your Thesis Theme affiliate statistics as the system was switched off without warning.
- The 60 day cookies will only work until 60 days after 14 Jan 10 when the change became effective. The clock is ticking and any new clicks on old links simply will not be recognised and you will not make any more affiliate sales.
- If you haven’t done it already – you must quickly sign-up with Share a Sale and get new links and banners – otherwise you will no longer be earning affiliate commissions.

Great post! I?m looking for an easy but lucrative affiliate program to get the hang of since I?m new to affiliate marketing. Is this a good choice to begin my affiliate marketing endeavors with?
The Thesis Theme affiliate program won’t make you wealthy overnight. It’s more of a low to moderate source of revenue that should at least pay for your Thesis Theme purchase and perhaps your annual hosting fees without too much trouble. Add a review and a few other articles about your experience with Thesis and a prominent link or banner ad, recommending Thesis Theme for WordPress and see how you go.
Despite the affiliate program for Thesis being well established and the immediate market quite saturated, the change to the ShareaSale affiliate network has also seen DIYThemes ban rebates which should see some of the more hungry Google AdWords marketers drop out of the market – less is anything left to offer curious buyers.
I would definitely recommend the theme to power your blog and consider the affiliate program an added bonus – not the primary reason to get into the theme. With Thesis 2.0 due out one day with promises of great things, the affiliate program may go off big time.
