Use The Amazon Associates Program To Add Bling To Your Blog

AmazonAdd the Amazon Associates Program to your blogging tool-kit for extra bling and k-ching.

What is the Amazon Associates Program?

In Amazon’s own words…

Amazon Associates is one of the first online affiliate marketing programs and was launched in 1996. The Amazon Associates program has a more than 12 year track record of developing solutions to help website owners, Web developers, and Amazon sellers make money by advertising millions of new and used products from Amazon.com and Endless.com. When website owners and bloggers who are Associates create links and customers click through those links and buy products from Amazon.com or Endless.com, they earn referral fees. It’s free to join and easy to use.

Provide customers the convenience of referring them to a trusted site where they can immediately purchase the products you advertise on your site. And when they do, you can earn up to 15% in referral fees.

You just sign up for free, go through their banners and links areas and choose what you would like to appear on your site. You can choose widgets, text links, music samples, movies (as I have at the top of this post) and all sorts of things.

You can also link to any page on Amazon with their customizable link creator. This is especially great if you want to review and recommend a particular product like a book or other product.

Get Your Free Amazon Store

This is a great feature of Amazon. You create your store in your Associates panel and link to any page within it.

Just use the link in the url address bar in your browser and copy and paste from there into your posts. Any sales made from your site or from Amazon (if they go there from your store) will be credited to you.

Have a look at my Amazon store to see what it looks like. You can have it as a stand alone site or use an iFrame to embed it within your site and make it look like it has its own pages within your store. All instructions are provided with your Amazon Associates Program membership.

At first I thought the same, however if you read how ProBlogger and other professional bloggers make their money, a portion (at least 5% or more) is from each of Amazon, Google AdSense, clickbank, etc. I think that by diversifying – as you do with your financial investments – pays off with blogging as well. We are providing a service to readers by offering them the opportunity to know they can get books and music from Amazon. It’s in our best interests to familiarize casual web surfers about shifting to online purchasing with credible organisations. As per loading time, computers and browsers are getting faster but I agree that if you have too many, loading times can build up. Everything is moderation :-)
