If you are a regular you will notice that I’ve changed the skin again! This time I’ve used the Cutline Plus for Thesis skin developed by Phillip Baron at Thesis Lab.
I’ve made few tweaks including:
- a unique font for headlines and the header using the Font Uploader Plugin
- changed some colors
- rounded off my nav menu tabs
- added some footer widgets
- designed a handful of unique header images for the header rotator
- custom coded (custom.css file additions) some shaded boxes for a right column in pages
Where the Bear Comes in…
My nickname is Bear.
- I’ve been told I can go from gorgeous to grizzly in 3 seconds or less – and back again.
- I can also be pretty layed back or assertive – okay aggressively enthusiastic.
Where the Ninja Comes in…
I really had fun with this Thesis skin modification.
- I updated my Thesis installation from 1.7 to 1.8 in about 10 minutes – including adding the Cutline Plus custom folder (which gave me most of the magic) AND I did a snappy upgrade to WordPress 3.0.
- I backed up my site using server-side tools in cpanel before I upgraded my Thesis and WordPress installations AND I backed up my entire public_html folder using Filezilla (free FTP software).
- After updating my plugins, I now have a copy of everything and it’s all squeaky clean and new.
I am a Ninja Bear…
- I did really well. Okay, enough with the self-congratulations….watch the video of a real ninja bear.

Haha, that Ninja Bear rocks!
How did you go about trying out your new theme before putting it online? Do you run a copy of your blog in a subfolder or how?
PS: Didn’t you use to have CommentLuv…?
Thanks Klaus. I had to re-register – wasn’t keeping up with all my To-Dos. It should be working now.
Thanks for all the very helpful information on this great site! Also enjoyed your Ninja Bear!
A great-looking and talented bear on that video. I like bears because they may seem to move slow because of their big look but they can actually move quickly, running at speeds well over 30 miles an hour. This tells not not judge based on appearance alone.
Well done Somone, seems you are becoming good with Thesis and WP. I visit now and then and I have to admit that your theme changes a lot. It’s good as you will test and try many things and that is one way to learn.
I used to change my look every 6 months or so, it’s just so easy to make those changes – the temptation got the better of me. I find I am critical with my own look and get frustrated that I don’t have all of those design abilities to really do what I want – and no funds to contribute towards ‘that look’ so I make do. I think if I can swap out the header images every now and again I will be satisfied. The current trend is towards simplicity and you really can’t beat the Thesis framework for a robust foundation to hang a bit of ‘look’ off.
I thought you used to change your theme more than me – I think I may have caught up in the last 6 months!
I’m going to try my hardest to not interfere with my design – just add content and value and visit more of my favourite sites out there to maintain my knowledge and spread my comments/opinions amongst the blogging community. I especially want to target Thesis newbies to give them inspiration and assistance. See you soon over at your place.
Updated installation view from 1.7 to 1.8 for about 10 minutes – including adding custom folder Cutline Plus, which gave me the most magical and intelligent updating to WordPress 3.0.
ok. nice one. looks good. and nice video.
Looks amazing, nevermind good! Have to admit I was distracted by the cute Ninja Bear but, great job.

Ninja Bear rocks! Loved the bear in the video.
I love ninja! Good job!
wow, great post and info. keep posting stuff like this, I really like it.
Nice post very interesting and good job!
Ah, love the bespoke font – as a web designer myself, I’ve read about this new technology but haven’t tried it on a website yet. Subtle use on headers only I think is probably the best, as you’ve done.
Thank you for the compliment. There are so many to choose from.
haha ninja bear….now what was your post about again…haha
wooden gate is very awful..just ignore him”, thanks for the informative post i know us newbies have gathered so much knowledge.

The site looks great, I love the Thesis theme. That ninja bear is awesome, I have to show it to my kids when they wake up. A real life Kung Fu Panda!
I LOVE the video! It’s so cool. A nice touch to the blog!
Your Thesis theme is amazing. You can never go wrong working with ninja bears if only they would clean up after themselves
This is great article……thanks to share with us……
Lol, funny post, wonder what would happen if this ninja bear met one of the mutant ninja turtles…
Would be good to see. A bit like the cat who scares off the big python on YouTube.
Cutline was the first theme I used ages ago, did not realise that they were still designing for Wordpress. Lovely theme you have made here, like the parchment effect a lot. Cannot help thinking that maybe a slightly lighter parchment or larger, heavier font may make the words stand out better though.
Great title! aha, and I must agree the changes you made for this version of the site are great! :)
That video wasn’t fudged at all?
Wouldn’t want to be the guy who gets karate chopped then eatin by a bear!
I can relate that bear from the show KUNG FU PANDA…hahaha great fighter.
I like so much the bears!! It looks so sweet in the photo!!
Bautiful theme skin and design, i like the bear video, very funny bear .
Your blog now looks really professional and attractive for users! well done!
By the way, the video you posted is really funny – it’s nice to get a huge smile during the work!
