One of my other sites was plagued with the [MySQL server has gone away] error. Even upgrading to WordPress 2.9 didn’t fix it. However, I found a fix that is as simple as copy and paste.

This error has nothing to do with Thesis Theme, it is a WordPress error.
Your hosting provider cannot fix this for you either. I know because mine told me it wasn’t showing an error on their end therefore nothing for them to do.
You have to fix the file on your server yourself and as long as you have FTP access it is simple.
Over @ Rob’s Notebook, you will find links to different files, one of which is Workaround wp-db.php under WordPress 2.8. This link will give you a file that you swap out with your wp-db.php file in the wp-content folder and that’s it.
